We contributed to the 2023 edition of the Hour of Code by submitting an activity for students based on PyTamaro.

The activity targets beginner students and can be completed in one hour. It’s available in English, German and Italian. Additional material for teachers is also made available.

Abstract

Develop a functional approach to programming by learning to call functions and to pass arguments to produce castle parts. Then compose lists of parts into a castle inspired by the three medieval castles of Bellinzona that protected Italy from the Swiss in the Middle Ages.

About

The Hour of Code® is an initiative by Code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming, especially during CSEdWeek, the computer science education week that takes place every year during the week of Grace Hopper’s birthday (December 9, 1906), a pioneer of computer science who invented the first compiler and coined the term “bug”. Hour of Code® and Hora del Código® are registered trademarks of Code.org.
